Chad Wilson’s journey into roofing began in the 1980s when he spent his summers working alongside his uncle, learning the trade while still in school. After high school, Chad worked at Modar, a woodworking factory, where he met Ruben in 1996. Ruben, who is now Chad’s top roofing expert, played a pivotal role in shaping Chad’s career in roofing. During the winters, Ruben worked at Modar, and in the summers, he roofed for Sheriff-Goslin. Eventually, Ruben started his own company, Ruben’s Construction, focusing on subcontracting for various roofing contractors.
With encouragement from Ruben, Chad obtained his builder’s license, which allowed him to pull permits and secure roofing jobs. This partnership led Chad to launch a welding company in 2002, a venture he still owns today. In 2006, Chad expanded his skills to include home remodeling and earned his residential builder’s license for the state of Michigan in 2012.
Despite his diverse experience, Chad didn’t establish CW Roofing until 2021, after years of Ruben’s persuasion. That year, CW Roofing completed 28 roofs. The numbers grew to about 56 roofs in both 2022 and 2023, with expectations of reaching a record high in 2024.
While the financial benefits of roofing are undeniable, Chad’s primary motivation has always been to support Ruben, a friend who started with nothing and built a successful business after coming to the U.S. from Mexico in 1996. Ruben’s dedication and work ethic have made a lasting impact, not only on Chad but also on Ruben’s three sons, who now work alongside their father.
Chad’s roofing business is a testament to friendship, hard work, and the belief in supporting those who matter most.
